Handling guideline of discs
and player
!Useonly conventional, fully circular discs.
Donot use shaped discs.
!Use12-cm or 8-cm disc. Do not use an
adapterwhen playing 8-cm discs.
!Donot insert anything other than a disc
intothe disc loading slot. Discs which can
beplayed back are listed on Playable discs
onpage 9.
!Donot use cracked, chipped, warped, or
otherwisedamaged discs as they may da-
magethe player.
!Donot touch the recorded sur face of the
discs.
!Storediscs in their cases when not in use.
!Avoidleaving discs in excessively hot envir-
onmentsincluding under direct sunlight.
!Donot attach labels, write on or apply che-
micalsto the surface of the discs.
!Toclean a disc, wipe the disc with a soft
clothoutward from the center.
!Condensationmay temporarily impair the
player’s performance. Leave it to adjust to
thewarmer temperature for about one
hour.Also, wipe any dump discs with a soft
cloth.
!Playbackof discs may not be possible be-
causeof disc characteristics, disc format,
recordedapplication, playback environ-
ment,storage conditions, and so on.
!Roadshocks may interrupt disc playback.
!Readthe precautions for discs before
usingthem.
DVD discs
!Withsome DVD video discs, it may not be
possibleto use certain functions.
!Itmay not be possible to play back some
DVDvideo discs.
!Itis not possible to play back DVD-ROM/
DVD-RAMdiscs.
DVD-R/DVD-RW discs
!UnfinalizedDVD-R/-RW discs which have
beenrecorded with the Video format (video
mode)cannot be played back.
!DVD-R/-RWdiscs which have been re-
cordedwith the Video Recording format
(VRmode) cannot be played back.
!Formore information about recording
mode,please contact manufacture of DVD
recorderor application.
AVCHD recordeddiscs
!Thisunit is not compatible with discs re-
cordedin AVCHD (Advanced Video Codec
HighDefinition) format. Do not insert
AVCHDdiscs. If inserted, the disc may not
beejected.
CD-R/CD-RW discs
!WhenCD-R/CD-RW discs are used, play-
backis possible only for discs which have
beenfinalized.
!Itmay not be possible to play back CD-R/
CD-RWdiscs recorded on a music CD re-
corderor a personal computer because of
disccharacteristics, scratches or dirt on
thedisc, or dirt, condensation, etc., on the
lensof this unit.
!Playbackof discs recorded on a personal
computermay not be possible, depending
onthe application settings and the environ-
ment.Please record with the correct for-
mat.(For details, contact the manufacturer
ofthe application.)
