Using the down-mix function
Thedown-mix function allows you to play back
multi-channelaudio in 2 channels.
1 TouchDOWN MIX on the DSP function
menu.
2 Touchcor dto select the desired level.
!Lo/Ro–Stereo mix the original audio that
donot contain channel modes such as sur-
roundcomponents.
!Lt/Rt–Down mix so that the surround
componentscan be restored (decoded).
Using the directcontrol
Youcan override audio settings to check for ef-
fectivenessof your audio settings.
!Allaudio functions are locked out when the
directcontrol is on except VOLUME/MUTE
andDOLBY PRO LOGIC II.
1 TouchDIGITAL DIRECT on the DSP func-
tionmenu.
2 Touchdto turn the direct control on.

Using the Dolby Pro LogicII
DolbyPro Logic II creates five full-bandwidth
outputchannels from two-channel sources to
achievehigh-purity matrix surround.
!DolbyPro Logic II supports up to 48kHz
samplingrate stereo source and has no ef-
fecton other types of source.
!Whenboth the center speaker and the rear
speakerare set to OFF in the speaker set-
ting,you cannot switch to
DOLBYPRO LOGIC II.
1 TouchNEXT on the DSP function menu.
2 TouchDOLBY PRO LOGIC II.
3 Touchany of the following touch panel
keysto select the desired mode.
!MOVIE–The Movie mode suitable for
movieplayback
!MUSIC–The Music mode suitable for
musicplayback
!MATRIX–The Matrix mode for when FM
radioreception is weak
!OFF–Turn Dolby Pro Logic II off
!MUSICADJUST –Adjust the Music mode
#Youcan operate MUSIC ADJUST only when
MUSIChas been selected.

Adjustingthe Music mode

Youcan adjust the Music mode with the fol-
lowingthree controls.
!Panorama(PANORAMA) extends the front
stereoimage to include the surround
speakersfor an exciting “wraparound”ef-
fect.
!Dimension(DIMENSION) allows you to
graduallyadjust the sound field either to-
wardsthe front or the rear.
!CenterWidth Control (CENTER WIDTH) al-
lowscenter-channel sounds to be posi-
tionedbetween the center speaker and the
left/rightspeakers. It improves the left-cen-
ter-rightstage presentation for both the dri-
verand the front passenger.

on.
