Setting the angle icon display
Youcan set it up so that the angle icon ap-
pearson scenes where the angle can be
switched.
!Initially,this function is set to on.
%TouchMULTI ANGLE on the DVD setup
menuto turn angle icon display on.
#Toturn the angle icon display off, touch
MULTIANGLE again.
Setting the aspect ratio
Thereare two kinds of display. A wide screen
displayhas awidth-to-height ratio(TV aspect)
of16:9, while a regular display has a TV aspect
of4:3. Besure toselect thecorrect TVaspect
forthe display connected to REAR MONITOR
OUTPUT.
!Whenusing a regular display, select either
LETTERBOX or PAN SCAN. Selecting
16: 9 mayresult in an unnatural picture.
!Ifyou select the TV aspect, the units dis-
playchanges to the same setting.
%TouchTV ASPECT on the DVDsetup
menuto selectthe TVaspect.
TouchTV ASPECT repeatedly until the desired
TVaspect appears inthe display.
!16: 9 Widescreen picture (16:9) is dis-
playedas it is (initial setting)
!LETTERBOX The picture is the shape of a
letterboxwith black bands at the top and
bottomof the screen
!PANSCAN The picture is cut short at the
rightand left of the screen

!Whenplaying discs that do not specify
PANSCAN, playback is with LETTER BOX
evenif you select PAN SCAN setting. Confirm
whetherthe disc package bears the 16 : 9 LB
mark.(See page 13.)
!Somediscs do not enable changing of the TV
aspect.For details, refer to the discs instruc-
tions.
Setting the parental lock
SomeDVD video discs let you use parental
lockto restrict children from viewing violent
andadult-oriented scenes. You can set the par-
entallock to your desired level.
!Whenyou set a parental lock level and then
playa disc featuring parental lock, code
numberinput indications may be dis-
played.In this case, playback will begin
whenthe correct code number is input.

Settingthe code number and level

Youneed to have registered a code number for
playingback discs with parantal lock.
1 TouchNEXT on the DVD setup menu.
2 TouchPARENTAL.
3 Touch0 to 9 to input a four digit code
number.
#Tocancel the inputted numbers, touch C.
4 TouchENTER.
Thecode number is set, and you can now set
thelevel.
5 Touchany of 1 to 8 to select the desired
level.
Theparental lock level is set.
!LEVEL8 Playback of the entire disc is pos-
sible(initial setting)
!LEVEL7 to LEVEL 2 Playback of discs for
childrenand non-adult-oriented discs is
possible
!LEVEL1 Playback of discs for children
onlyis possible
Notes
!Werecommend to keep a record of your code
numberin case you forget it.
!Theparental lock level is recorded on the disc.
Lookfor the level indication written at the disc
package,included literature or on the disc it-
self.Parental lock of this unit is not possible if
aparental lock level is not recorded in the
disc.
