ATS38 Disconnect Delay

S Register 38 determines the number of seconds the modem will wait before hanging up after the ATH command is issued or the DTR signal is lowered — after the &D2 command has been issued. If a disconnect delay has been defined, the modem will attempt to empty the contents of its data buffers before actually going on-hook.

If the modem empties its buffers before the defined disconnect delay expires, the modem will hang up immediately.

The modem will respond with NO CARRIER, rather than OK, if S Register 38 is between 1 and 255 and the modem’s buffers have not been emptied when it hangs up.

The length of the disconnect delay may be selected with the %D command.
