Itried to do a modem

successfully.
Check the following on your computer:
■Makesure your computer is turned on
andthatitdoesnotshutdown
automatically as part of an energy-
saving feature.
■Makesure the modem connected to your
computer is turned on and is connected
to the outgoing phone line.
■Makesure Modem is checked in the
HotSync Manager menu.
■Makes ure the modem you are using
withyour handhe ld computer has an on-
off switch. Your handheld computer
cannot “wake up” a modem that has an
auto-off feature.
■Makesure the modem is connected
properlyto aseri alpo rt ony our
computer and is connected to the
incoming phone line.
■Confirm that the Setup String in the
Setup dialog box configures your
modemcorrectly. You may need to select
adifferent Modem Type or enter a
customSetup String. Most mo dems have
aSetup String that causes them to send
initial connection sounds to a speaker.
Youcan use these sounds to check the
modem connection.
■Confirm that the Speed setting in the
Setupdialog box works foryour modem.
■IfyouhaveproblemsusingtheAsFast
AsPossible option or a specific speed, try
using a slower speed.
■Makes ureyou are not running another
program,such as WinFax, CompuServe,
or America Online, that uses the serial
portyou selected in the S etup dialog box.
■Makesure yourmodem resetsbefore
you try again. (Turn off your modem,
wait a minute, then turn it back on.)
