transmittedin SSL mode is encrypted to prevent a thirdparty from viewing it while it’s in transit
betweena client and server. SMARTBridgit software has beentested to ensure the encryption
mechanismand the communicationlayers conform to the standard.
Softwaret oolkit vendorssupply libraries that implementt heSSL s tandardand that can beused to
buildSSL-capableapplications. SMART Bridgit software uses a toolkit called OpenSSLto provide
SSL security on botht hecli entand the server. This toolkit implements both the SSL and the
TransportLayerS ecurity(TLS v1) protocols,as well as a full-strengthgeneralpurpose cryptography

Certificates

SMART Bridgit software uses OpenSSLto generate as elf-signedSSL certificate which is used for
dataencryption. Each time the server starts, a new 1024-bit SSL certificate is generatedand a new
256-bitencryption key is negotiatedw ith eachc lient.
