First-Time Log-In Using a Console Port Connection

StarttheCommandLineInterface(CLI)fromthemodule’slocalconsoleportasfollows:
1. ConnectaterminaltothelocalconsoleportasdescribedinConnectingtoCOMPortfor
LocalManagementonpage 414.Thestartupscreen,Figure 415,displays.
2. Attheloginprompt,enteroneofthefollowingdefaultusernames:
roforReadOnlyaccess,
rwforReadWriteaccess,or
adminforSuperUseraccess.(ThisaccesslevelallowsReadWriteaccesstoallmodifiable
parameters,includinguseraccounts.)
3. PressENTER.
4. ThePasswordpromptdisplays.LeavethisstringblankandpressENTER.Themodule
informationandMatrixpromptdisplaysasshowninFigure 415.

Note: This procedure applies only to initial log-in, and to logging in to a device not yet configured
with administratively-supplied user and password settings.
By default, the Matrix NAC Controller PEP Series device is configured with three user login
accounts: ro for Read-Only access; rw for Read-Write access; and admin for super-user access to
all modifiable parameters. The default password is set to blank (carriage return). For information on
changing these default passwords, refer to Chapter 3 in the Enterasys Matrix
DFE-Diamond/Platinum Series Configuration Guide.
