5.5 Video matrix Eneo EKR-8/4 and EKR-16/4

5.5.1 Description

Matrix EKR-8/4 and EKR-16/4 are products for professional use in applications for security and surveillance and dedicated to the management of video signals. The EKR-8/4 and EKR-16/4 models differ only in the number of possible video input connections, 8 and 16 respectively; there are four video outputs, one of which can be managed directly by a VCR.

As well as the usual switching, alarm management and on screen menu programming operations, the EKR-8/4 and EKR-16/4 matrix is equipped with an optional auxiliary line that can be used to control the telemetry or multiplexer units. Refer to the matrix manual for further information on this subject.

5.5.2 Connexion

5.5.2.1 Cable

The communication cable is standard, as described in § 3.3 - Standard connection cable, page 12.

5.5.2.2 Matrix settings

The new generation matrix EKR-8/4 and EKR-16/4 can be controlled by different types of keyboard and therefore emulates the respective protocols: to control the switcher with the EKR-KB1 keyboard the MACRO protocol with baud rate 38400 should be used.

Set the dip switches in the matrix as required (all dips are OFF: MACRO Protocol, baud rate 38400, programming disabled).

5.5.2.3 Keyboard settings

While the keyboard is being set up, the submenu should be set as follows:

Control of a EKR-16/4 matrix

The presence of a maximum of four keyboards connected to the matrix means it is necessary to define a different identification number for each one (from 1 to 4).

5.5.2.4 Operational test

If the keyboard is connected directly with the switcher set up in this way using the telephone cable supplied, it should be possible to switch the input videos immediately:

•press to select monitor 1

•press , , to select the cameras.

5.5.3 Video device setup

The setup procedure is described in the video device’s instruction manual.

Press to enter setup, and insert setup password if it has been enabled.
