5.18 Ademco multiplexer

5.18.1 Description

The Ademco AXMD16E / AXCD16EX digital multiplexer can be used to connect 16 video inputs that are digitised and output for display in a composite image.

5.18.2 Direct connection

The connection is RS485 (one-way) and the maximum distance between keyboard and multiplexer is 1200m.

5.18.2.2 Setting up the multiplexer

The multiplexer can only be configured using its local keyboard and the mouse. Set the communication mode as RS485, the correct baud rate and A type protocol.

5.18.2.3 Setting up the keyboard

When configuring the keyboard, the  submenu should be set as follows:









5.18.2.4 Operational test

Control of an Ademco multiplexer. There is a choice of four baud rates.

If the keyboard is connected directly with the multiplexer configured as above, using the cable as above, it should be possible to switch the video inputs immediately:

press to select multiplexer unit 1

press , , to select the video inputs.

For each command that is sent from the keyboard a corresponding LED lights up on the local multiplexer keyboard.

Warning! If the multiplexer unit number does not coincide, the commands sent by the keyboard will be ignored.
