b.If your computer is connected to the Internet, disable the connection to your computer by removing the Ethernet cable that connects the modem (cable, DSL, or dial-up) to your computer.

c.Press Setup on the front panel.

The Setup Menu appears on the color graphics display.

d.Press 6.

The Network menu appears on the color graphics display.

e.Press 2.

The wireless radio setting options appear on the color graphics display.

Note: The default setting for the wireless radio is Off.

f.Use the and buttons to select On.

g.Press OK.

h.Open the configuration utility for your wireless network adapter.

i.Write down the existing wireless profile’s settings.

j.Create a new wireless profile with the following values:

Communication mode: Ad Hoc

Network name (SSID): hpsetup

Encryption: disabled

(This is the default configuration for your HP PSC’s internal networking component.)

k.Activate the profile.

When the configuration change is complete, the computer is ready to communicate on the HP PSC’s network. (The computer is no longer part of its original network.)

Note: Unless you change your computer's settings, it will still communicate with your existing wireless network. But the wireless device that you need to configure is on its own network (called “hpsetup”). To configure that device, you need to change your computer to the HP PSC’s network—temporarily.

l.Print a network configuration page and obtain the IP address of the

HP PSC.

m.Open your Web browser on your computer.

n.Enter either the URL or device IP address from the network configuration page into the Address field in your browser.

The EWS Home page appears.

o.Select the Networking tab.

p.At the Network Settings page, click the Wireless tab.

q.Scroll to the appropriate section and enter the profile values you recorded in step “i”.

r.Click Apply.

s.Exit the EWS by closing your browser.

t.Open the configuration utility for your wireless network adapter.

u.Restore the old wireless profile settings.

v.Wait 60 seconds and then print a network configuration page. The blue network light on the lid of your HP PSC should be lit.

w.Open your Web browser on your computer.
