Introduction

There are times when y ou want to interact directly with the hardw are of your Model 742i before it boots the operating system. The Model 742i pro vides

a boot console user in terface to allow y ou to perform special tasks, displa y information, and set certain system parameters, ev en if the operating system is unavailable.

Special Tasks

Here are the special tasks that y ou can perform:

Boot your system from an y speci￿ed hardware device.

Search for hardware devices that con tain media from whic h your system can be booted.

Reset the system.

Information Displayed

Here are some of the kinds of information that y our system can displa y:

A list of the commands y ou may issue from the boot console user in terface.

Real-time clock time and date.

Settings of the Autoselect.

Status ( on or o￿ ) of the secure boot mode.

Station address for the built-in LAN in terface. VME backplane network con￿guration.
