Renaming a File on Disk

Description Files can be renamed as an aid to efficient file management.

HOW TO: 1 Choose DISK OPERATION FILE RENAME .

2Enter the FROM filename using PREVIOUS CHAR NEXT CHAR

or

Choose the directory which contains the file to be renamed. See "Accessing Directories and Files " page 134. Move the highlighted cursor to the file to be renamed and press SET to return to the FILE RENAME display.

The filename, with extension, can contain up to 12 alphanumeric characters.

3Choose the directory in which to locate the renamed file (it will appear on the display). See "Accessing Directories and Files " page 134.

4Enter the TO filename using PREVIOUS CHAR NEXT CHAR or press SET twice and use the pop-up keypad.

The filename can contain up to 8 alphanumeric characters. The file extension is fixed to the FROM filename extension.

5To rename the file choose OK .

If you have entered a filename which already exists, a warning "File exists - are you sure" you wish to continue is displayed.

If YES is selected, the data in the file will be overwritten. If NO is selected, the operation is aborted.

This allows you the opportunity to verify before renaming.
