Remote Console Port

Example: Using MOP to Connect to an Access Server from a DECnet/OSI OpenVMS Node

The following example shows a connection from a DECnet/OSI OpenVMS node to an access server remote console port. In this example:

The access server has a DECnet node name of DGD700.

The maintenance password is FEDCBA. On the SET HOST/MOP command line, however, the DECnet/OSI software transposes this password into the string

BADCFE.

The access server has a password of ACCESS.

$ SET HOST/MOP DGD700/VERIFICATION=%XBADCFE %CCR-I-CONNEST, connection established to remote system

Use of CCR from an ULTRIX DECnet Node

Console Carrier Request (CCR) enables you to connect to the remote console port from an ULTRIX DECnet node that is on the same Ethernet as the access server. The node must be running ULTRIX MOP software, but does not need to be a LAT service node or load host for the access server.

To disconnect from the access server, press Ctrl/D. To exit CCR, type EXIT or press Ctrl/Z. For more information about CCR, refer to the DECnet documentation provided with your system.
