Configuring Domain Name System (DNS) Characteristics

This section describes how to display and set the access server characteristics for the Internet domain name system (DNS) to resolve host names into Internet addresses. You can perform the following tasks:

Display DNS characteristics.

Display DNS counters.

Configure the default name resolution domain.

Change the time limit.

Change the retry limit.

Change the name resolution mode.

Configure a list of commonly used Internet hosts.

Configure a list of Internet name servers.

Displaying DNS Characteristics

To display the access server characteristics for the DNS, use the SHOW/LIST INTERNET NAME RESOLUTION command.

Internet DNS Character Display Example

The following example shows how to display the characteristics for the Internet DNS:

Local> SHOW INTERNET NAME RESOLUTION
