Concurrent Mode

Concurrent mode provides a way to run Online Diagnostics on some of the sy resources while the system is running normal system activity.

Because the system is running in normal operation, some of the resources tested in concurrent mode. The following resources cannot be tested in con mode:

Ÿ SCSI adapters connected to paging devices

Ÿ The disk drive used for paging

ŸSome display adapters

ŸMemory

ŸProcessor

There are

three

levels of testing in concurrent mode:

Ÿ The share-test

level

tests

a

resource

while

the resource is

being

shared

grams running

in

the

normal

operation.

This

testing is

mostly

limited

to no

commands

that test

for

the presence of

a device

or adapter.

ŸThe sub-test level tests a portion of a resource while the remaining part

resource is being used in

normal operation. For example, this test could

port of a multiport device

while the other ports are being used in

tion.

ŸThe full-test level requires the device not be assigned to or used by a

operation. This level of testing

on a

disk drive may require the use

varyoff

command. The

diagnostics

display

menus to allow you to vary off

needed

resource.

Error
