Step 3. Recording

1. Recording methods

This section explains the different recording methods available on the PXR4.

For basic recording, refer to “Quick Start.”

Recording on two tracks

Here’s how to record on two tracks simultaneously.

1Connect the input device.

Lower the PXR4’s [MASTER] fader, set the [INPUT SELECT] switch to LINE, and connect your keyboard etc. to the [LINE INPUT] jack.

2Specify two tracks for recording.

Press two [REC SELECT] keys (1–2 or 3–4) to specify the tracks that you want to record, adding two “ ” symbols to the track numbers in the display.

You can also listen to rhythm while you record. (→ p.41)

Operation

3Use the level meters to check the input levels. Hold down the [SHIFT] key and press the [MIXER] key to change the “DISPLAY” setting in the screen to “PRE” (pre-fader level).

While watching the level meter, play sounds on your input source (instrument), and use the [INPUT TRIM] knob to adjust the input level so that the level does not reach “CLIP” when the loudest sounds are produced.

You can also apply an effect to the input source. (→ p.36)

To listen to the sound that is being input, raise the [TRACK] faders and the [MASTER] fader to about 6.
