A Speaker On/Off

Press the SPEAKER button to turn the speakers on or off. When ON is selected, the SPEAKER indicator lights.

B Headphones

For private listening, first reduce the volume level on the receiver to minimum. Then insert the plug from your headphones into the PHONES jack, and adjust the volume by turning the VOLUME knob.

If you want to cut off the sound from speakers, press the SPEAKER button to turn it off.

<When the SPEAKER button is set to off, the multi-channel sound is downmixed to 2 channel automatically.

<When EXTERNAL IN is selected, only the front left and right channels are output from the PHONES jack.

Dolby Headphone

Dolby Headphone technology allows you to listen to music, watch movies, or play video games with the dramatic surround effects of a 5.1-channel soundtrack through any set of headphones. Best of all, “listener fatigue,” a phenomenon commonly associated with headphone playback, is replaced by a spacious, natural sound field that listeners can enjoy for hours.

Dolby Headphone offers three listening modes, each based on acoustic measurements of real rooms.

With the SPEAKER button set to off, press the DSP button to select a listening mode.

The “UH” indicator appears on the display.

DH1 (Studio)

DH1 (Studio) is a small, well-damped room appropriate for both movies and music-only recordings.

DH2 (Cinema)

DH2 (Cinema) is a more acoustically “live” room, especially suited for music but also great for movies.

DH3 (Hall)

DH3 (Hall) is a larger room, more like a concert hall or movie theatre.

<When the source is 2-channel stereo, press the PARAMETER button repeatedly to select a listening mode for 2-channel source:

MOVIE

Surround effect suitable for movies.

MUSIC 1

Surround effect suitable for music.

MUSIC 2

Less surround effect compared to MUSIC 1.

Press the STEREO button to turn Dolby Headphone off.
