IPX

Internetwork Packet Exchange. A NetWare communications

 

protocol used to route messages from one node to another. IPX

 

packets include network addresses and can be routed from one

 

network to another.

Jobs Log

A file that contains a historical record of the jobs submitted to the

 

GL-1020 controller. The information for each job includes the

 

document name, size, date and time stamp, and status. You can

 

filter the Jobs Log to list only the details for specific types of jobs.

Job Preset

A feature of TOSHIBA stand-alone copiers that allows a walk-up

 

user to set up for the next copy job while the copier is printing the

 

current copy job.

Job Type

The printing method for a specific job: Normal, Scheduled,

 

Private, Proof Print, Print to Image Overlay File,

 

TopAccessComposer or TopAccessComposer Print.

LCF

Large Capacity Feeder. A special paper feeding unit that can hold

 

a large amount of standard (Letter or A4) sized paper.

LDAP

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol. A network protocol for

 

extracting information from a hierarchical directory.

Local operations

Operations that affect the controller’s or digital copier’s

 

functionality and are performed at the physical device, usually

 

from the copier’s control panel.

LPD

Line printer daemon. A print management program that runs on a

 

host, such as a Unix machine.

MAC

Media Access Control. A sublayer of the layer 2 data link protocol.

 

It deals with network access and collision detection.

MAC Address

The unique address assigned by the manufacturer of a network

 

interface card.

Magazine Sort

See Booklet mode.

Manual Feeder

A paper input unit which can be used to feed single sheets of

 

special paper (such as envelopes, thick paper, or card) for a print

 

job. Also called the Stack Feed Bypass.

Media

The physical material on which a document is printed. For

 

example, bond, transparencies, labels are all types of media.
