MODIFYING PROTOCOL SETTINGS USING THE CONTROL
PANEL
The controller’s default protocol settings ensure quick and easy
installation. However, you may want to customize the settings for
optimal operation in your specific network environment.
Note: For a complete list of the default GL-1020 Network
Configuration settings, refer to Default Controller Settings on
page 36.
For example, the Auto Sense configuration setting for the IPX
protocol is enabled by default. With Auto Sense enabled, the
controller automatically determines the appropriate IPX frame
type and issues SAP packets over the network. This default
setting makes device discovery immediate and automatic, but it
generates IPX packets on all networks, even those that only run
TCP/IP.
You can change the default network configuration settings from
the LCD touch screen as described here. Alternatively, you can
use the embedded TopAccess web-based application to adjust
network settings. For details, refer to Using TopAccess.
