Sending Faxes
Dialing Methods
There are several ways of dialing the fax/telephone number of the party to which you want to send a fax. They are as follows:
■When the Fax/Telephone Number Is Not Registered in the Machine
•Regular Dialing
•Redialing
■When the Fax/Telephone Number Is Registered in the Machine

•Coded Speed Dialing
•Group Dialing
•Directory Dialing
NOTE
•If you are unsure of the registered fax/telephone number, check the destination labels, or print each list and check the numbers. (See "Printing Speed Dialing Lists," on p.
•For details on registering a fax/telephone number for speed dialing, see Chapter 3, "Speed Dialing."
•The machine must be set to the Fax mode when dialing and your fax document must be loaded in the ADF or on the platen glass.
Regular Dialing
When you come to a step that requires dialing a number, you can dial the number with the keys on the numeric keypad, just like you would when dialing a telephone number.
1 Dial a fax/telephone number with the numeric keys.
NOTE
•If you enter a wrong number, press [
•If <TIME OUT> in the <TX SETTINGS> is set to <ON>, scanning starts when you press [OK] after entering the fax/telephone number.
2 Press [Start] to scan the document.
Press [OK] to start dialing when you set the document on the platen glass. When you set the document in the ADF, the machine automatically starts dialing after scanning is complete.
One-Touch Speed Dialing
1 Press the desired one-touch speed dialing key (01 to 11).
The number registered under that
<NOT REGISTERED> appears if no fax/telephone number is assigned to the
If <TIME OUT> in the <TX SETTINGS> is set to <ON>, scanning starts automatically.
NOTE
If you press a wrong key, press [Stop/Reset].
2 Press [Start] to scan the document.
