What is the Silent Series piano?

Thank you for purchasing a Silent Series piano. The Silent Series piano is a high- quality traditional piano, incorporating the Quick Silent system, which allows you to play silently, at any time, without disturb- ing the neighbors or other people in your household. YAMAHA’s long experience with pianos and with electronics has allowed us to produce this state-of-the-art way to play the piano silently, on your own, or playing duets, without losing the feel of a real piano.

Reverb effects are also available to give you the feeling of playing in a variety of differ- ent spaces, avoiding the “dead” feel so com- mon with electronic instruments.

Merci pour avoir fait l’acquisition d’un piano de la série “Silent”. Le piano de la série “Silent” est un piano traditionnel de haute qualité intégrant le système “Quick Silent” qui vous permet de jouer en silence à n’importe quel moment sans déranger les voisins ou les membres de votre famille. C’est grâce à la lon- gue expérience acquise par YAMAHA dans le domaine des pianos et de l’électronique que nous avons pu développer ce tout nouveau mode de jeu pour vos exercices en solo ou à quatre mains sans que vous perdiez la sensa- tion d’un véritable piano.

Des effets de réverbération sont également destinés à vous donner la sensation d’un jeu dans une variété d’espaces différents. L’absence de sensation qui caractérise si sou- vent les instruments électroniques peut être ainsi évitée.

The Silent Series piano has two main fea- tures which distinguish it from a normal piano which together make up the Quick Silent system: first, the center pedal engages a hammer shank stopper, which prevents the hammers from hitting the strings, and effectively silences the piano.

Secondly, the Quick Silent system incorpo- rates the continuous-position optical sen- sors that capture every motion of the keys without mechanical interference, providing exceptional sensitivity and natural key- board response. Additional sensors register pedal movement as well, to faithfully repro- duce every facet of performance.
