Setting Up Out-of-Band Links

Recommended Method

The recommended method for connecting for out-of-band man- agement is with the AMS Link Extender included with your AsantéBridge 1012.

1	Connect the RJ45 connector on the AMS Link Extender to
	the AMS Link Port on the rear panel of the AsantéBridge
	1012 as shown in Figure 2-11.You can use either port.

	2A/250V Slow Blow Fuse
	Replace Only With Fuse of Same Rating

2	Connect the other end of the AMS Link Extender cable to
	the COM port on your PC or the modem port on a Macin-
	tosh.
3	Now locate the Hub DIP Switches on the AsantéBridge
	rear panel and set both of the switches DOWN.
4	Push the Reset button on the front panel.
	You are now ready to log in with AsantéView Out-of-Band.

Distance Restrictions

The total distance between the Asanté Management Station and the farthest hub in the chain cannot exceed 2000 feet, as mea- sured from the Asanté Management Station to the farthest hub.
