Chapter 6 Cabling the Line Ports and Completing the Installation

Connecting the line ports to the network

As with the single link cabling, inline topologies require both Receive and Transmit fibers, while Receive-only systems use only Receive fibers.

Note Receive-only topologies can be implemented using either an optical splitter or a switch. If a switch is used, it must support SPAN functionality that includes separation between ingress and egress traffic and multiple SPAN-ports destinations.

The following two diagrams illustrate the connections for dual links, with a single SCE 2000 deployed for both inline and receive-only topologies.
