Hardware Installation

You must install the interface card in the printer, connect it to the network, and turn on the printer before you can configure the interface card.

1. Installing the interface card in your printer

To install the interface card in your printer, see your printer’s documentation.

wWarning:

When you install or uninstall the interface card, you must turn off the printer and unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet to prevent electric shock.

2.Initializing the interface card

The first time you use the interface card after installing or reinstalling it, turn on the printer while holding down the status sheet button for about five seconds to initialize the interface card.

3. Connecting the network cable

Once the interface card is installed in your printer, attach the network cable to the interface.

Note:

The interface card is set to the default IP address "192.168.192.168". This private IP address may cause a conflict on your network. To prevent this, you must confirm that the same IP address does not exist on the network before connecting the interface card to the network. If it does, turn off the device which has the same IP address, then change the default IP address of the interface card. See Chapter 2 for instructions on setting the IP address.

Be sure to use a HUB to connect the interface card to the network since the interface card does not support direct connection to a computer.
