For the connection between the server blades and the SAN, you can install the 4/4 Gbit Fibre Channel Switch Blade (Brocade SilkWorm 4016 4D) in the PRIMERGY BX600 S3 basic unit. It offers a maximum of ten internal fabric ports to the server blades and a maximum of six external fabric ports for a fast and reliable connection to a SAN. The 4/4 Gbit Fibre Channel Switch Blade offers transfer rates of 4 Gbit/s via the internal and external ports. A

10/100 Mbit/s RJ45 connector is available for administering the 4/4 Gbit Fibre Channel Switch Blade via a LAN.

The operating system of the 4/4 Gbit Fibre Channel Switch Blade offers the full functionality of Brocade Fabric OS 5.0.4, the joint software platform for Brocade Fibre Channel switches. The FC switch blade is administered via the Fabric Watch and Advanced Web Tools from Brocade.

IThe 4/4 Gbit Fibre Channel Switch Blade only supports server blades that are fitted with a 4-Gbit Fibre Channel I/O module (PCIe daughter card).

IIn addition to the 16-port variant, a model with 12 dynamically assignable ports is available (e.g. 4 external and 8 internal ports). You can upgrade this model to a 16-port variant later.
