20.Install the processor air duct. For instructions. see “Installing the Processor Air Duct” on page 29.

Replacing a Memory Cooling Fan

1.Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety Information” on page iii.

2.Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.

3.Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Server System Cover”.

4.Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see “Removing the Processor Air Duct” on page 28.

5.(optional) The fan cables are tucked underneath the main power supply cable. For ease of access, disconnect the main power supply. See letter “A” in the following figure.

6.Follow the fan cable from the failed fan to the Y-connector. Detach the fan cable at they Y-connector. See letter “B” in the figure.

7.Remove the two screws that attach the fan to the fan bracket. Save these screws. You will re-install them later. See letter “C”.

8.Remove the fan. See letter “D”.
