Note: The server system does not support all hard drives. See “Server System References” on page xix for an Internet link to a list of supported hardware.
Installing a Hard Drive
Note: If you are replacing a hard drive, see “Removing a Hard Drive” on page 18 for instructions first. Return to these steps when directed.
1.Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety Information” on page iii.
2.Power down the server. Unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3.Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Server System Cover” on page 14.
4.Remove the three screws that hold the hard drive bracket to the system. See letter “A” in the figure below. For easiest access to the screws on the right side of the hard drive bracket, lift the power supply from the system.
5.Lift the drive carrier from the system. See letter “B” in the figure.
