Completing the FRU replacement

After replacing the FRUs, you need to reinstall any removed parts, reconnect and route any internal cables, close the computer cover, and reconnect any external cables, including telephone lines and power cords. Depending on the FRUs replaced, you might need to confirm the updated information in the Setup Utility program, see Chapter 6, “Using the Setup Utility,” on page 49.

Note: When the power cord is first plugged in, the computer might appear to turn on for a few seconds and then turn off. This is a normal sequence to enable the computer to initialize.

To close the computer cover and reconnect external cables to your computer:

1.Ensure that all components have been reassembled correctly and that no tools or loose screws are left inside your computer. See “Locating components” on page 128 for the location of the various components.

2.Ensure that the internal cables are routed correctly before lowering the drive bay assembly.

Important

Correctly route all power supply cables to avoid interference with the drive bay assembly. Keep cables clear of the hinges and sides of the computer chassis.

3.Lower the drive bay assembly and place the drive locks to the locked position. Otherwise, you cannot close the computer cover.

4.If you removed the front bezel, reinstall it by aligning the three tabs on the front bezel with the corresponding holes on the chassis and pivoting the front bezel inward until it snaps into position.

5.Close the computer cover.

6.If a computer cover lock is installed, lock the computer cover.
