Change the WAN Connection Preference and Second Ethernet Port
When you set up the modem router for cable or fiber (Ethernet WAN) service, you must
change the default WAN connection preference (see Set Up Your Modem Router for Cable
or Fiber Service on page 18). If you want to change the WAN connection preference, use the
information in this section.
The default WAN connection preference is to use the ADSL port for an Internet connection
over DSL service. With this option, both Ethernet ports are available for LAN connections.
The other WAN connection preference is to use Ethernet port 2 for an Internet connection
over cable or fiber service. With this option, only Ethernet port 1 is available for a LAN
connection.
To change the WAN connection preference and assignment of Ethernet port 2:
1. Launch an Internet browser from a computer or WiFi device that is connected to the
network.
2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com.
A login screen displays.
3. Enter the user name and password for the modem router.
The user name is admin. The default password is password. The user name and
password are case-sensitive.
4. Click the OK button.
The BASIC Home screen displays.
