44Chapter 3 Installing the Passport 8672ATME Module

After the image loads onto the Passport 8672ATME Module, it performs a series of self-diagnostic tests. If the module fails the diagnostics, the screen displays the following message:

Fatal bring up error on ATM card in slot <number>.

If you see this message, contact a service representative. For information on contacting service representatives, refer to “How to get help” on page 24 .

When the image successfully loads onto the Passport 8672ATME Module, the screen displays the following message:

ATM card in slot <number> is online.

The switch fabric module (Passport 8690SF or Passport 8691SF) can download the image to two Passport 8672ATME Modules in the same Passport 8600 series chassis simultaneously.

Note: If you accidentally delete the image file, reset the card and redownload the file. For information on how to reset the card, see “Resetting the module” on page 54 .

If you have one MDA installed, you can proceed to configure the

Passport 8672ATME Module.

Note: You must save your configuration (using either the CLI or Device

Manager) to preserve the configuration changes you made to the

Passport 8672ATME Module across reboots.

MDA insertion and configuration

Once you insert an MDA, you must complete some basic configuration tasks for the Passport 8672ATME Module to begin switching operations as soon as it completes initialization. For information on installing MDAs, refer to Installing the Installing Media Dependent Adapters for the Passport 8672ATME Module.
