Conﬁguration example for PSTN resources at the Branch Ofﬁce

IP Phones registered to the main ofﬁce Call Server can be grouped into

one of two categories:

•those conﬁgured with a main ofﬁce dialing plan, similar to any other

non-IP Phone at the main ofﬁce

•those conﬁgured with a Branch Ofﬁce dialing plan because the

telephone is physically located in a Branch Ofﬁce

Customer data must ﬁrst be conﬁgured to recognize numbers that are local

to each location (a standard NARS conﬁguration issue). This example

speciﬁcally focuses on the additional changes necessary to physically

enable an MG 1000B telephone, registered with the main ofﬁce Call Server,

to reach PSTN resources in the Branch Ofﬁce.

Assume that the main ofﬁce and Branch Ofﬁce have been conﬁgured with

local numbers, such as 555-1212 or 967-1111.

Table18 "Example dialing string, area codes, and Access Codes" (page

183) uses the following conﬁguration at the main ofﬁce for MG 1000B

telephones to reach the PSTN.

•Long-distance numbers in the same area code, such as 1-613-531-1234

or 1-613-320-1234.

•Long-distance numbers at the MG 1000B are conﬁgured to go over

the Virtual Trunk and use PSTN trunks at the Branch Ofﬁce, such as

1-506-555-1212 or 1-506-472-1234.
