198 Adding a Branch Ofﬁce

Upgrade only the main ofﬁce to CS 1000 Release 5.0

ATTENTION

IMPORTANT!

Amixed software conﬁguration between the main ofﬁce and branch ofﬁcesrunning

, CS 1000 4.0, CS 1000 Release 4.5 or CS 1000 Release 5.0, is permitted. In this

case, indeﬁnite operation with a mixedsoftware conﬁguration is supported.

If you choose to upgrade only the main ofﬁce to CS 1000 Release 5.0,

you have the option of upgrading the IP Phone ﬁrmware. Speciﬁcally, the

options are:

1. Upgrade the IP Phone ﬁrmware in the existingCS 1000 4.0 or CS 1000

4.5 Branch Ofﬁces (see "Upgrade main ofﬁce with IP Phone ﬁrmware

upgrade" (page 198)).

2. Do not upgrade the IP Phone ﬁrmware in the existing CS 1000 4.0 or

CS 1000 4.5 Branch Ofﬁces (see "Upgrade main ofﬁce without IP Phone

ﬁrmware upgrade" (page 199)).

Upgrade main ofﬁce with IP Phone ﬁrmware upgrade

Toupgrade the main ofﬁce to CS 1000 Release 5.0 and upgrade the IP

Phone ﬁrmware in CS 1000 4.0 or CS 1000 4.5 branch ofﬁces to CS 1000

Release 5.0:

Step Action

1At the main ofﬁce:

a. Upgrade the Call Server software to CS 1000 Release 5.0.

b. Upgrade the main ofﬁce Signaling Server(s) software to CS 1000

Release 5.0 with the Automatic Firmware Upgrade set.

c. Reconﬁgure the main ofﬁce Signaling Server to conﬁgure the

NRS.

d. Upgrade the main ofﬁce VoiceGateway Media Cards to CS 1000

Release 5.0.

e. If necessary, executethe umsUpgradeAll command on the

main ofﬁce Signaling Server(s) or Voice GatewayMedia Card(s).

2At each existing CS 1000 4.0 or CS 1000 4.5 Branch Ofﬁce:

a. Upgrade the IP Phone ﬁrmware to CS 1000 Release 5.0 IP

Phone ﬁrmware.

3Execute the umsUpgradeAll command on the main ofﬁce

Signaling Server(s), or Voice GatewayMedia Card(s) if necessar y.
