parameters" (page 215).

Branch User Conﬁg is used for conﬁguration. Once the IP Phone is

conﬁgured at the Branch Ofﬁce, its parameters redirect the IP Phone to the

main ofﬁce. This means that conﬁguration is not required a second time

unless the Branch User parameters change on that IP Phone.

Attempting to perform a Branch User Conﬁg to a TN of a differentset type

at the main ofﬁce results in a Permission Denied (4) error message on the

display of the IP Phone. See Table 26 "Normal Operation troubleshooting"

(page 349) for more information on error messages.

Whenever a validchange is made to BUID/MOTN in LD 11, the IP Phone,

if in Local Mode, is automatically redirected to the main ofﬁce. A service

change to BUID/MOTN does not affect IP Phones in Normal Mode. If the

BUID of an IP Phone is deleted in a service change, no attempt is made to

redirect the telephone to the main ofﬁce.

WARNING

Do not delete the BUID/MOTN.If they are subsequently deleted,

the association between the main ofﬁce and the Branch Ofﬁce

is lost, and any IP Phones which are in, or go into, Local Mode,

remain in Local Mode.

Procedure 25

Conﬁguring a Branch User

Step Action

1Toinvoke the login and conﬁguration operation for a Branch User,

press the Services key (the key with the Globe icon) on an idle IP

Phone. If the Branch Ofﬁce package is equipped, the Virtual Ofﬁce

Login and Branch User Conﬁg options are displayed.

2Select Branch User Conﬁg, as shown in Figure 100 "Options

menu" (page 270).

3Enter the Branch User ID, that is a dialableDN of the main ofﬁce.

See Figure 101 "Branch User ID" (page 272).

For a CDP dialing plan, the Access Code is not required. For

example, xxx-xxxx. For a UDP dialing plan, this DN includes the

Access Code. For example, 6-xxx-xxxx.
