196 Adding a Branch Ofﬁce

g. Install and provision the local trunks (the XUT,PRI, and DTI

cards).

h. If applicable, conﬁgure Abbreviated Dialing. See "Abbreviated

Dialing conﬁguration" (page 337).

i. Provision the Virtual Trunks. Refer to IP Peer Networking

Installation and Commissioning (NN43001-313) .

When conﬁguring NRS, enable the Network Connection Service

(NCS). Ensure that each Branch User ID (BUID) is entered in

the Branch Ofﬁce numbering plan so it points to the main ofﬁce.

For survivability reasons, ensure that the Signaling Server and

the media cards use the same H.323 ID. This ensures that the

Branch User will be properly redirected to the main ofﬁce. Refer

to "Adding the Branch Ofﬁce endpoints to the NRS database"

(page 260) for more information.

j. Install MG 1000B telephones, starting with "Installing and

conﬁguring IP Phones" (page 264).

Toprovision IP Phones as Conﬁgured Desktop Ser vices, in

a network with an MCS 5100, refer to IP Peer Networking

Installation and Commissioning (NN43001-313) .

Adding a CS 1000 Release 5.0 Branch Ofﬁce to a Branch Ofﬁce witha previous software release

The CS 1000 Release 5.0 Branch Ofﬁce feature requires a main ofﬁce

running Nortel Communication Server 1000 Release 4.5. Therefore, the

main ofﬁce must be upgraded to CS 1000 Release 5.0 before a CS 1000

Release 5.0 Branch Ofﬁce can be added.

Twooptions are available when an existing Succession 3.0 Branch Ofﬁce or

CS 1000 4.0 network requires the addition of a new BranchOfﬁce. These

options are:

1. Upgrade the entire network to CS 1000 Release 5.0, and then add

the new Branch Ofﬁce (see "Upgrade the entire network to CS 1000

Release 5.0" (page 197)).

2. Upgrade only the main ofﬁce to CS 1000 Release 5.0, and then add

the new Branch Ofﬁce (see "Upgrade only the main ofﬁce to CS 1000

Release 5.0" (page 198)).

If, ina given network, there is one ormore Succession 3.0 branch ofﬁces, all

branch ofﬁces must be upgraded to CS 1000 Release 4.0 Software before

you can upgrade the main ofﬁce to CS 1000 Release 5.0
