Conﬁguring the Branch Ofﬁce zone

Step Action

1Conﬁgure the Branch Ofﬁce zone on the Branch Ofﬁce.

In the Branch Ofﬁce, only the zone number and bandwidth/codec

selection is conﬁgured.

Use the same zone number between the Branch Ofﬁce and main

ofﬁce. The main ofﬁce conﬁguration (Procedure 37 "Conﬁguring the

main ofﬁce" (page 319),step 5) provides the Branch Ofﬁce zone

characteristics (local time, local dialing, and ESA).

2Conﬁgure the ESN SPN.

The Branch Ofﬁce must recognize the incoming digits on the Virtual

Trunkand remove all but the ESDN. The call is routed to a local

termination. ESA recognizes the call as an emergency call and

selects the correct route. Refer to "Dialing plan conﬁguration" (page

291).

Conﬁguring the NRS

The NRS must be conﬁgured for the ESA Special Number (SPN). The

NRS uses the ESA SPN to route the emergency call from the main ofﬁce

to the Branch Ofﬁce.

Nortel recommends that a consistent pattern be followed for all ESA calls.

For example,use "0" + ESN Location code of the Branch Ofﬁce node + the

ESDN. An example for location code 725 would be: 0725911. The zero is

recommended to preventa collision in the ESN data with the HLOC entry.

Commissioning (NN43001-313) .

Testing the number

Use Procedure 40 "TestingESDN using an MG 1000B Telephone" (page

326) to test the ESDN number from any telephone in the Branch Ofﬁce.
