[REC] mode: ¿
Taking pictures that match the scene being
recorded (¿: Scene mode)
When you select a scene mode to match the subj ect and record ing situation, t he camera
sets the optimal ex posure and hue to obtain the desired picture.
Slide the [REC]/[PLAYBACK] selector switch to [!].

Set the mode dial to [¿].

Press 3/4/2/1 to select the scene mode.

You can switch menu scree ns from any menu i tem by rotating
the zoom lever.

Press [MENU/SET] to set.

The menu screen is switched to th e recording screen in the
selected scene mode.
About the information
If you press [DISPLAY] when selecting a sc ene mode in step 3,
explanations about each scen e m ode are displayed. (If you press
[DISPLAY] again, the screen returns to t he s cene mode menu.)
Note
To change the scene mode, press [MENU/SET] an d then press 1, and return to step 3 above.
Refer to P39 for information abo ut the shutter speed.
The scene mode flash setting is res et to the initial setting when t he s cene mode is changed.
When you take a picture with a scene m ode that is not adequate for the purpose, the hue of the
picture may differ from the actual scene.
The following items cannot be set in sc ene mode because the camera aut om atically adjusts
them to the optimal se tting.
[INTELLIGENTISO]/[SENSITIVITY]/[I.EXPOSURE]/[COLORMODE]/[MIN. SHTR SPEED]
[I.EXPOSURE] is activated automatically in the following scene modes.
[PORTRAIT]/[SOFTSKIN]/[TRANSFORM]/[SELF PORTRAIT]/[SCENERY]/[SPORTS]/
[NIGHT PORTRAIT]/[PARTY]/[CANDLELIGHT]/[BABY1]/[BABY2]/[SUNSET]/[HIGHSENS.]
When taking pict ures of people o utdoors during t he daytime, this mode allows yo u to
improve the appearance of the persons concerned and make their skin tones look
healthier.
Technique for Portrait mode
To make this mode more effective:
1Rotate the zoom lever as far as possible to Tele.
2Move close to the subj ect to make this mode more effective.

The initial setting for [AFMODE ] is [š].
