Advanced (Recording pictures)
When taking picture s of people outdoors during the daytime, this mode enables th e texture
of their skin to appear e ven softer than with [PORTRAIT ]. (It is effective when taki ng
pictures of people fro m th e che s t up. )
∫Technique for Soft skin mode
To make this mode more effective:
1Rotate the zoom lever as far as possible to Tele.
2Move close to the subje ct to make this mode mor e effective.
Note
•If a part of the background etc. is a color close to skin color, this part is also smoothed.
•This mode may not be effective when there is insufficient brightness.
•The initial setting for [AF MODE] is [š].
Subject can be recor ded either slim or stretched, and at the same time, skin can be
recorded smoothly.

•It can be set from the quick menu (P 19).
2Take pictures.
Note
•
[SOFT SKIN] is activated when recording. It becomes harder to detect the
[SOFT SKIN] when the level of [SLIM HIGH] or [STRETCH HIGH] is selected.
•[QUALITY] is automatically fixed to [›].
•You can take pictures suitable for 4qk6q/10k15 cm printing .
•The initial setting for [AF MODE] is [š].
•It cannot be used without noti f y ing the copyright owner, except for pe rs onal use.
Select this to take pictures of yourself.
∫Technique for Self portrait mode
•Press the shutter bu tton halfway to focus. The self-timer indicator
lights up when you are brought in to focus. Making sure you hold
the camera still, press the shutter button fully to take the picture.
•
The subject is not focused when the self-timer indica tor is blinking.
Make sure to press the s hutter button halfway again t o focus.
•The recorded picture auto matically appears on the LCD mon itor
for reviewing.
•If the picture is blurry due to the slow shutter speed, we
recommend using the 2 sec on d self-timer.
Note
•The focus range is about 30 c m (0.99 feet) to 70 cm (2.29 fe et) (Wide).
•You can take a picture of yourself with audio ( P66). If you do this, the self-timer in di c ator will
light up while recording the audio.
•The zoom magnification is aut om a tically moved to Wide (1k).
•
The self-timer can onl y be set to off or 2 seconds. If it is set to 2 seconds, this setting will remain until
the camera is turned off, the scene mode is changed or [REC] mode or [PLAYBACK] mode is selected.
•The stabilizer function mode is fixed to [MODE2]. (P65)
•The initial setting for [AF MODE] is [š].
