About the Histogram
A histogram is a graph that displays brightness along the horizontal axis (black to white)
and the number of pixels at each brightness level on the vertical axis.
It allows you to e asily check a pi cture’s exposure.
1Dark area, mid- tone, and bright a rea are balanced o ut evenly, making it su itable to take
a picture.
2The picture will become underexposed with more dark area. The pict ures with mostly
dark area, such as night scenery, will also have a histogra m like this.
3The picture will bec ome overexposed with more bright area. The pictures with mostly
white area will also have a histogram like this.

Note
When you take pictures with the flash or in dark places, the histogram is displayed in
orange because the recorded picture and the histogram do not match each other.
The histogram is an approximat ion in recording mode.
The histogram of a picture may not m at ch in recording mode and playba ck mo de .
The histogram displayed in this camera does not match histograms di splayed by picture editing
software used in PCs etc.
