Performance Verification
Two types of Performance Verification procedures can be performed on this
product: Brief Procedures and Performance Tests. You may not need to perform
all of these procedures, depending on what you w ant to accomplish.
HTorapidly confirm oscilloscope function and proper adjustment, perform the
proceduresunder Self Tests, which begin on page 2--5.
Advantages: These proceduresare quick to do, require no external
equipment or signal sources, and perform exten sive functional and accuracy
testing to provide high confidencethat the oscilloscope will perform
properly. They can be used as a quick check before making a seriesof
important measurements.
HTofurther check functionality, first perform theSelf Tests just mentioned;
then performthe procedures under Functional Tests that begin on page 2--6.
Advantages: These proceduresrequire minimal additional time to perform,
requireno additional equipment otherthan a 10X probe such as a P5050, and
more completelytest the internal hardware of the oscilloscope. They can be
used to quickly determine if the oscilloscopeis suitable for putting into
service, such as when it is first received.
HIf more extensiveconfirmation of performance is desired, do the Perform-
ance Tests, beginning on page 2--17, afterdoing the Functional and Self Tests
mentioned above.
Advantages: These procedures add direct checking of th e warranted
specificationsmarked with the nsymbol in the Specifications section.
These procedures are fairly quick to execute b ut require specific test
equipment. (See Table2--1: Testequipment on page 2--18).
