TDS5000B Series Specificationsand Performance Verification 2-17
Performance TestsThis section containsa collection of manual procedures for checking that the
TDS5000B Series Oscilloscopes performsas warranted. The preceding
proceduresare faster to complete, and should be done first if you intend to
perform the performance tests.
The proceduresare arranged in four logical groupings: Signal Acquisition System
Checks, Time Base System Checks, Triggering System Checks ,andOutput Ports
Checks. They verify all characteristics design ated as checked in the Specifica-
tions section. (The characteristics that are checked appear with a n).
STOP.The follow ing procedures extend the confidence level provided by the
basic proceduresdescribed on page 2--5. The basic proceduresshould be
completed first;then complete the procedures in this section, if desired.
Prerequisites
The tests in this sectioncomprise an extensive, valid confirmation of perform-
ance andfunctionality when the following requirements are met:
HThe cover is not removed fromthe oscilloscope.
HYouhave performed and passed the procedures underSelf Tests, found on
page 2--5,and those under Functional Tests, found on page2 --6.
HYouhave completed a signal-path compensation within the recommended
calibrationinterval and at a temperature within ±5_C(±9_F)of the present
operating temperature.(If at the time you did the prerequisite Self Tests, the
temperaturewas within the limits just stated, consider this prerequisitemet).
HThe oscilloscope was last adjustedat an ambient temperature between 20 _C
(68 _F) and30 _C(86_F), has been warmed-up for a period of at least
20 minutes, and is operatingwithin the ambient temperature described in
Table1--10 on page 1--22. (The warm-up requirement is usually met in the
course ofmeeting the Self Tests and Functional Tests prerequisiteslisted
above).
