2. Confirm the trigger system is within sensitivitylimits (50 MHz):
a. Display the test signal:
HSet the generatorfrequency to 50 MHz.
HFrom the toolbar,click MEA S.
HClick Setup Ref Levs;thenclicktheMin-Max button.
HClick the Setup button andselect the Ampl tab; then click the
Amplitudebutton.
HClick Close.
HPressPUSH TO SET 50%.
HSet the test signal amplitude for about threeand a half divisions on
the screen. Fine-adjustthe generator output until the CH 1 Ampli-
tude readout indicatesthat the amplitude is 350 mV. The readout
may fluctuatearound 350 mV.
HDisconnect the 50 termination(with the 50 precisi on coaxial
cable attached)from CH 1, and reconnect it to CH 1 through a 10X
attenuator.
b. Check the Main trigger system for stable triggering at limits:
HRead the following definition: A stable triggeris one that is
consistent, that is, onethat results in a uniform, regular display
triggeredon the selectedslope (positive or negative). This display
should not have its triggerpoint alternating between opposite slopes,
nor should it roll acrossthe screen. At horizontal scale settings of
2 ms/division and faster,TRIG’D will remain constantly lit. It will
flash for slowersettings.
