2-6 TDS5000B Series Specifications and Performance Verification
e. Run the signal-path compensationroutine:
HPull down the Utilities menu and selectInstrument Calibra-
tion.... This displays the instrument calibration controlwindow.
NOTE. Signal Path Compensation is not valid until the oscilloscopereaches a
valid temperature.Calibration Status must be Pass.
HClick the Calibrate button to start the routine.
f. Wait:Signal-path compensation may take ten minutes to run.
g. Confirm signal-path compensation returnspassed status: Verify that the
word Pass appearsin the instrument calibration control window.

calibrationcontrol window.
Functional TestsThe purpose of these proceduresis to confirm that the oscilloscope functions
properly.The only equipment required is a 10X probe, such as a P5050.
Tocheck the file system, a 3.5 inch, 720 K or 1.44 Mbyte, formatted floppy disk
is required.
NOTE. If your instrument includesOption FHD (Front-Panel Removable Hard
Disk Drive)you do not have a floppy disk drive. If you need to store settings
during these procedures, access the local C :drive and store them in the TekScope
> Setups directory.
STOP.The following procedures verify instrument functionality; that is, they
verify that oscilloscopefeatures operate properly. They do not verify that they
operate within limits.
For example, when the instructionsin the following functional tests request that
you verifythat a signal appears on-screen “that is about five divisions in
amplitude” or “has a period of about six horizontal divisions,” do NOT
interpretthese quantities as given limits. Operation within limits is checked in
Performance Tests, which begin on page 2--17.
