Conventions
Throughout the performanceverifications procedures the following conventions
apply:

HProcedure
HEach procedureconsists of as many steps, substeps, and subparts as required
to performthe test. Steps, substeps, and subparts are sequenced as follows:
1. FirstStep
a. First Substep

HSecond Subpart
b. Second Substep
2. Second Step
HIn steps and substeps, thelead-in statement in italics instructs you what to
do, while the instructions thatfollow tell you how to do it, as in the example
step below:
Initialize the oscilloscope:P ush the front-panel DEFAULT SETUP button.
HWhereinstructed to use a control in the display or a front-panel button or
knob, the nameof the control, button, or knob appears in boldface type.
Whereinstructed to make or verify a setting, the value of the setting also
appearsin boldfacetype.
STOP.TheSTOP notation at the left is accompanied by information you must read
to do the procedureproperly.
HThe term “toolbar”refers to a row of buttons at the top of the display. The
term “menu bar” refers to a row of menus at the to p of the display. Youcan
switch betweentoolbar and menu bar operating modes by clicking the button
near the top right cornerof the display. See Figure 2--1.
