Brief Procedures

TDS5000B Series Specificationsand Performance Verification 2-7

STOP.In the following procedures, do not make changesto front-panel settings

that arenot specificallycalled out. Each verification procedurerequires that you

to set the oscilloscopeto certain default settings before verifying functions. If

you make changesto settings other than those called out in a procedure, you

may obtain invalid results.In such cases, repeat the procedure starting overfrom

step 1.

If you areinstructed to press a front-panel or screen button, the button may

alreadybe selected (its label will be highlighted). If this is the case, it is not

necessaryto pressthe button.

Equipment

required

One10X oscilloscope probe, such as TektronixP5050

Prerequisites None

1. Initialize the oscilloscope:Pu sh the front-panel DEFAULTS ETUP button.

2. Hook up the signal source:Connect the probe to the probe compensation

connectorand the channel input that you want to test (beginning with CH 1)

as shown in Figure 2--2.

3. Turnoff all channels:If any of the front-panel channel buttons are lighted,

push those buttons to turn offthe displayed channels. See Figure 2--3.
