NOTE:
Best results are obtained by using #60 or #80 lightweight thread. It is advisable to use a #11 blue stretch needle when sewing knits and synthetic fabrics. You can obtain buttonholes with wider cutting space for the opening by setting the stitch width at 1.5 instead of 2.

Remove the extension table (accessory box). Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the handwheel counterclockwise. Remove the foot holder. Pull the bobbin thread about 3" (7.0 cm) straight back toward the rear of the machine. Insert the hook 6 of the base plate 8 into the rectangular hole 4 on the needle plate. Pull back the lever 7 to fit the hook and the two base pins 5 into their holes on the needle plate. Release the lever to lock the base plate into place.
