Color print quality problems

Horizontal bands appear on the printed page.

When you print solid color images you can expect some horizontal banding (fine horizontal lines that are more obvious in solid color areas). To minimize banding, try these steps:

mBanding is more likely with 30 to 60 percent print coverage. Try a different pattern with more white space or more coverage.

mUse light background color, rather than dark.

mReplace the toner cartridge containing the associated color.

mReplace the photoconductor cartridge.

You cannot get smooth color gradients in printed pages.

Try these steps:

mMake sure the application program you’re using lets you print the colors you want.

mReplace the toner cartridge containing the associated color.

mReplace the photoconductor cartridge.

White gap appears between adjacent color.

mFrom the Print Quality pop-up menu (in the Print Options dialog box), choose Best.

mChange the colors. Choose colors that are closer to each other in the spectrum. (For example, with red and green, there’s more white gap; with blue and green, the white gap is reduced.)
