Connecting the Serial Cable

Connect a DB-9 to RJ-45 serial cable to the COM port on a computer and to the RJ-45 serial port on the access point. Figure 2-3shows the serial port connection.

Note The Cisco part number for the DB-9 to RJ-45 serial cable is AIR-CONCAB1200. Browse to http://www.cisco.com/go/marketplace to order a serial cable.

Setting Up the Terminal Emulator

Follow these steps to set up the terminal emulator:

Step 1 Open a terminal emulator.

Step 2 Enter these settings for the connection:

•Bits per second (baud rate): 9600

•Data bits: 8

•Parity: none

•Stop bits: 1

•Flow control: none

Step 3 Press = to display the home page of the access point. If the access point has not been configured before, the Express Setup page appears as the home page. If the access point is already configured, the Summary Status page appears as the home page.

Changing Settings with the CLI

The CLI pages use consistent techniques to present and save configuration information. Table 2-2lists the functions that appear on most CLI pages.
