Connect the MP Connection
Note This step is optional.
A dial-up connection extends switch management to all workstations that have access to the public
switched telephone network (PSTN).
PXM-UI-S3
Connect the maintenance port (MP) on the PXM-UI-S3 card to a modem. Connect the terminal to a
power source and set it up using the values that are shown in Tab le 5-2. T his modem is connected through
the PSTN and is accessible from a workstation, as shown in Figure5-30.
PXM-UI-S3/B
A PXM-UI-S3/B card does not have a maintenance port. For the PXM-UI-S3/B card, a modem can be
connected to the console port instead of the MP.
