Trunk Cabling
This section provides information about T3 and E3 trunk cabling.

T3 Trunk Cabling

A trunk cable connects each T3 port on the SMB-8T3 back card to a T3 port on the colocated MGX 8220
node. See Tabl e B-16 for information about the T3 trunk cable wiring and co nnector.
See Tabl e B-17 for details on SMB pin functions.

E3 Trunk Cabling

A trunk cable connects each E3 port on the SMB-8E3 b ack card to an E3 port on the colocated MGX
8220 node. See Tabl e B-18 for information about the E3 trunk cable wiring and connector.

Cable Parameter Description
Type 75-ohm coaxial cable (RG-59 B/U for short runs; AT&T 734A for longer
runs). Two per T3 line (transmit and receive).
Maximum length 450 feet between the Cisco MGX 8850 or MGX 8950 switch and the DSX-3.
450 feet between the Cisco MGX 8830 switch and the other equipment.
Connector Terminated in male SMB. Rx is received from trunk; Tx is transmitted to
trunk.
