2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 117.

3Remove the system-board assemblies. See "Removing a System-Board Assembly" on page 87.

4Remove the cooling fans. See "Removing a Cooling Fan" on page 118.

5Remove the screws that secure the cooling-fan brackets to the chassis. See Figure 3-26.

6Lift the cooling-fan brackets out of the chassis. See Figure 3-26.

7Remove the screws that secure the upper middle plane to the middle plane holder. Figure 3-27.

8Disconnect all the cables from the upper middle plane.

Note the routing of the cable underneath the tabs on the chassis as you remove them from the system. You must route these cables properly when you replace them to prevent the cables from being pinched or crimped.

9Lift the upper middle plane out. See Figure 3-27.
